Differential binding of cyclic adenosine 3' ,5'-monophosphate to the cyclic adenosine 3' ,5'-monophosphate receptor protein in Escherichia coli.
Binding of cyclic adenosine 3' ,5'-monophosphate (cAMP) by the cAMP receptor protein in crude cell-free extracts of Escherichia coli was characterized. When cell were grown in glucose, binding was inhibited 50% relative to extracts from cells grown with succinate as carbon source . This inhibition could be relieved by dialysis.
متن کاملRole of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate on cessation of respiration in ultraviolet-irradiated Escherichia coli.
The addition of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP) to ultraviolet-irradiated Escherichia coli B/r cultures causes additional cells to cease respiring and to die. These effects of cAMP are greater on glucose-grown cells, where the effects of ultraviolet radiations alone are smaller and where the intracellular concentrations of cAMP are known to be lower.
متن کاملRequirement of adenosine-3',5'-cyclic monophosphate for L-arabinose isomerase synthesis in Escherichia coli.
Adenosine-3', 5'-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic AMP) is essential for the synthesis of l-arabinose isomerase in Escherichia coli. Cyclic AMP appears to be required for the transcription of deoxyribonucleic acid into messenger ribonucleic acid (RNA), since the enzyme synthesis is not observed in induced cells to which cyclic AMP is added after messenger RNA synthesis is arrested by rifampin or aft...
متن کاملRequirement of adenosine 3', 5'-cyclic phosphate for flagella formation in Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium.
Adenosine-3',5'-cyclic phosphate (cyclic AMP) is absolutely required for flagella formation and, hence, motility in cyclic AMP-deficient mutants of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium.
متن کاملStimulation of galactokinase synthesis in Escherichia coli by adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate.
Adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cyAMP) stimulates the rate of synthesis of galactokinase in glycerol-grown Escherichia coli both when production of the enzyme is induced by d-fucose and when it is repressed by glucose in the presence of inducer. cyAMP also stimulates the synthesis of galactokinase in constitutive strains B78A (R(-)) and R10 (O(c)), and overcomes the transient repression o...
متن کاملDesferrioxamine B, an inhibitor of Escherichia coli motility, reversing the stimulating effect of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate.
A substance inhibiting Escherichia coli motility was isolated by "motilometry" assay from the culture broth of Streptomyces sp. strain NR9GG8 and was found to be identical with desferrioxamine B. Its inhibitory effect was reversed by cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP), while the motility stimulation by cAMP was diminished by this inhibitor. Its effects on various enzymes involved in cA...
